The European Blockchain Association discussed the potential development of a European token economy following work conducted through the Tokenise Europe 2025 initiative. Participants from blockchain, payments, financial services, energy, mobility, supply chain, policy and government examined how tokenization could reshape economic activity.
The initiative considered the growing use of tokens to represent value and assets on blockchain infrastructure. Potential applications extend beyond financial markets and include real estate, logistics, healthcare, identity, entertainment and other sectors where digital ownership and programmable transactions may create new business models.
The work highlighted the need for coordination between private-sector participants and policymakers, clearer standards and practical use cases capable of demonstrating the benefits of tokenization. It also emphasized education and access to information as important elements in building public understanding of both the opportunities and risks associated with a tokenized economy.
